There is something very consistent about Vidya Balan - she consistently gives great performances onscreen and she consistently tops the 'worst dressed celebrity list' off screen. We really can't figure that out.
We can't fathom why she either wants to dress like she's the main attraction at the circus or as if she were trying to get an early admission into an old age home! Perhaps she's figured that, instead of competing with the sexy Priyanka or the svelte Katrina for newsprint space, she'd just make news by doing the opposite - looking positively ghastly every opportunity she gets! Here's looking at a few of Vidya's most memorable hits and misses.
At the IMC Women Entrepreneurs' exhibition, Vidya turned up in a yellow horror. Ok, so maybe the colour suited her, but we could have done without the green and the orange. As for the flower motif at the hem, my little cousin would have seen it was a fashion disaster a mile away.
The folks at Marie Claire tried their best to get Vidya Balan in touch with her ethnic beauty. But when the actress came to launch the issue (featuring her on the cover), they must have shuddered at how she had caught the wrong end of the stick.
We guess there's some Mughal influence in there somewhere, but we can't put a finger on it. And as if the confusion of embroidery, zari, frills and colours were not enough, the outfit even has a few panels of black and white checks.
Our verdict: we can think of forgiving the creator - citing excess of inspiration - but we can't forgive Vidya for actually picking it off a rack somewhere.
